Mule Dies, Deputy Sheriff McClung Shot From Ambush

Do you have a book inside you that is waiting to get out, some hidden dream to be an author, make that dream a reality. Share your talent with the world, you have the idea I make it a reality. The books you see below were all self-published by authors like you.

M. E. M'CLUNG OCT 21, 1901

While Riding Along the Public Road--Two Shots Fired, One Taking Affect The people of this community were startled last Monday evening when the word reached them that William E. McClung, deputy sheriff of Kentucky district, had been shot from ambush Monday morning, October 21, near his home at Hominy Falls, this county. Our regular correspondent at Hominy Falls gives us the following account of the occurrence;

Deputy Sheriff William E. McClung was waylaid Monday morning as he was going to his work and shot by some cowardly wretch. Two shots were fired, one striking Mr. McClung in the right side, inflicting a serious, though we hope, not fatal wound, the other striking his mule which he was riding inflicting a wound from which it will die. We refrain from making ary a comment on the above, merely stating the facts, hoping that the time is near when the guilty party will be apprehended and brought to justice. Mr. McClung was getting along nicely Wednesday and his many friends hope he will soon be out again.
